When I was a young girl my mother took me to every garage and estate sale in a thirty mile radius of the small town in which we lived. As a reward she let me choose a treat. I always went straight to the jewelry. I suppose even then I was fascinated with shiny, sparkly things.

Because I realized my love of jewelry early, I began collecting costume jewelry relatively early in my adult life. I fondly remember my days as a novice collector. Finding a "named" or "marked" piece was such a thrill. It was not long before I started reading every book I could find regarding collectible jewelry, and realized how very expansive the body of knowledge of vintage costume jewelry is.

My mother and I spent countless hours sharing our finds and treasures, and in 2007 she passed her sizable collection to me. My jewelry horizons have broadened, but my love of vintage jewelry remains constant.
